Statement on Recording of Lectures
Please note this applies to all teaching on the MSc Leadership for Sustainable (Rural) DevelopmentWe will endeavour to record all lecture-style teaching via an open MS Teams call that will also allow you to livestream the lecture. This recording will have significant limitations (e.g. other students will not be audible or visible) and may be an inferior experience to actual attendance. Practical sessions, workshops, meetings etc. will not be recorded.
In some cases it may not be possible to record a session or technical difficulties may occur. Teaching staff are under no obligation to re-record material should a recording fail to be made. The recording and any associated material remains the intellectual property of that lecturer and should not be shared with anyone without agreed permission.
We will endeavour to provide captioning of our material but the accuracy of this is not the responsibility of the lecturer. If you require accurate captioning as result of a reasonable adjustment, please consult Disability Services for advice.

Regulations for Students:
By enrolling at Queen’s University Belfast, you undertake to abide by all of our regulations, policies and procedures so it is important that you familiarise yourself with them.
- The University’s General Regulations contain important information about the rules governing progression, assessment and degree classification on all programmes. They assure the University’s academic standards and ensure all students are treated consistently and equitably. They are also part of the formal contract between you and the University. The University’s General Regulations can be found at: http://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/AcademicAffairs/GeneralRegulations/
- Students are expected to treat other people equally and with respect, and to behave responsibly, both on and off campus, and on social media and other forms of communication; students will also be expected to adhere to published guidance on social distancing and other public health measures in place in 2021-22 on and around the campus community both for their health and safety and the health and safety of others as we work as a community to minimise the impact of Covid-19; they should also be aware of the impact of their behaviour on the University’s reputation.
Breaches of University regulations may be dealt with under the Conduct Regulations; https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/AcademicStudentAffairs/AcademicAffairs/GeneralRegulations/ConductRegulations/
If you have any problems understanding any of these regulations, policies and procedures, or if you have any questions, it is important that you discuss them with your Advisor of Studies or Advice SU in the Students’ Union.
Teaching and Learning Methods:
This module is taught using lecture style teaching during the morning session, and using practical methods during the afternoon session. Before attending class, you should have undertaken any preparatory reading or activities, and completed any assigned homework. During class, you should be active in taking notes, asking questions, and responding to class discussions. Particularly during the practical sessions, you should engage in the activities with enthusiasm and curiosity, and aim to make a contribution matching or exceeding that of your peers.
There is no course credit for attendance. If you choose to attend a session, you must be prepared to fully participate, or you may be asked to leave. If you choose not to attend a session, you must be prepared for any consequence this will have on your learning, including assessment outcomes.
Reading Material:
All required or recommended reading will be made available to you on the related Canvas page. There is no requirement to purchase any core textbooks for our modules, and we would never expect students to invest in costly books that may not get used again. However, here are some general books that we recommend as very informative, and these can be found for free online, in the university library or purchased second-hand.
